About NOLA Gold Rugby Foundation
NOLA Gold Rugby Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that supports youth-based sports programming through the growth of playing rugby. We support underserved youth programs in the New Orleans area by providing coaches, equipment and shared facilities. Last year we worked with a multi-high school team in New Orleans East, the Barbarians, consisting of both boys and girls rugby team and this year we will help re-establish the Westbank Barracudas Rugby Club. The Foundation also works with Louisiana Rugby to support youth rugby programs such as kid’s halftime games and summer touch leagues. This year we look forward to hosting the High School Championships again before a NOLA Gold Rugby game and will offer scholarships to the high school players chosen to represent the Louisiana Exile Select Touring Team. Additionally, this fall we are excited to be working with the Gretna Recreation Department and towards implementing grade school youth rugby for boys and girls.
The Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of the NOLA Gold Rugby Franchise, has expanded its scope this year to support various organizations with which we have a community bond and ones we are proud to promote community awareness. These organizations include Spina Bifida of Louisiana the “Joey Traylor Memorial Fund”, Within Reach School for Autism (helping with family support), Fisher House (which supplies lodging for families of hospitalized Veterans), and Café Hope (a job-skills training program for at-risk youth). Please ask us about our involvement next time we get together. Our organization from Owners, Front Office, Coaches, Foundation, and Board of Directors has a Manifesto that we will help our youth and use our relationships to change lives and make a better community.
